How to Make a Poinsettia With Kids
Christmas is more than a time of eating and tearing open presents. It is also a time when the family can get together and share activities. If you have young children, one activity you might want to share is a Christmas craft project. For example, work with your kids to make a collection of paper poinsettias that you can use as a decoration on the tree or the mantle. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Construction paper in red and yellow
- Safety scissors
- Nontoxic paste
- Hole punch

Use the scissors to cut out squares from the red construction paper; these squares should be the size you want for your leaves.

Fold each square from the edge and, from the crease, cut out a leaf shape. You will need five for each flower you plan to make. How many you get from a sheet of paper is determined by the size you cut them.

Use a hole punch to punch out five yellow dots from the yellow construction paper for each flower you plan to make.

Unfold the flowers petals but leave a slight bend in them. Place a dot of glue on the end of one and place the end of another on top of the glue. Place another dot of glue on the intersection point and add another petal. Continue this process to connect all five petals you need.

Glue one dot to each petal an inch or so from the center of the flower.
