How to Clean a High-Efficiency Washing Machine With Vinegar
A high-efficiency washing machine is so called in part because it manipulates the clothes in a smaller amount of water than a traditional washing machine requires. High-efficiency washers also use less detergent. In fact, you need only about 1 tbsp. of detergent for each load to clean your laundry in a high-efficiency washing machine. Nevertheless, as in all washing machines, buildup can occur in a high-efficiency washer. Open the soap tray and fill the liquid detergent cup with 1 cup of vinegar, if you have a front-loading machine. Close the tray. Pour the vinegar into the washing basin if you have a top-loading high-efficiency machine. Shut the lid on the washing machine.

Fill your washing machine full of water for a medium load. Use warm water.

Run the washing machine on a normal cycle.

Vinegar will kill any mildew buildup in your machine and make the washer smell fresh.
