Roll out a 5- to 6-foot section of white butcher paper. Paint a birthday message to the guest of honor with poster paint and allow it to dry completely. Get as many friends as you can to write birthday messages on the sign and hang it in a spot where it will be seen as soon as he enters the room.

Tips & Warnings
Since your friend will not likely be expecting guests in his dorm room, take a moment to make the bed and collect any floor clutter into a general pile. This will give you more of a clean slate to work with and will highlight your efforts.
Choose a color scheme that you know your friend will love. This can be a favorite color, the colors of a favorite sports team or simply the colors of your college or university.
