How to Attach Artificial Turf to a Wood Patio
Wood patio decking undergoes a lot of abuse because of its constant exposure to the elements, as well as everyday use by you and your family. The finish of the wood will begin to fade, nails can begin to stick up out of the surface, and the wood can begin to splinter. Rather than refinish or replace the patio, you can cover it with artificial turf. This can provide a safe surface for your family that is durable and will hide the weathered boards. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions
-
-
1
Measure the area of the patio to calculate how much artificial turf you need to cover the wood.
-
2
Spray the patio down with a hose to remove dirt and allow it to dry.
-
-
3
Hammer down any nails that are sticking up from the deck.
-
4
Cover the patio with foam underlayment, stapling it to the wood every 3 feet. This will provide cushioning underneath the turf.
-
5
Unroll the turf on the patio and allow it to sit for a few hours to remove any wrinkles and creases.
-
6
Cut away excess turf from around the edges of the patio with a utility knife.
-
7
Lift the turf around the edges and fold it over so you can access the underlayment.
-
8
Apply jointing tape to the edges of the patio on top of the underlayment. If you have to join multiple pieces of turf, center the tape between the two pieces.
-
9
Brush seaming glue on top of the jointing tape.
-
10
Unroll the turf and press it down firmly against the glue-covered jointing tape. Pull separate pieces together when doing this if there is more than one piece on the patio.
-
11
Place boards on top of turf along the edges and place heavy objects on the boards to weigh them down. Let the glue cure overnight.
