How to Get a High Score on "Bejeweled" in Time Mode

In the Web-based game "Bejeweled," you must rotate adjacent gems to make matches of at least three of the same kind, and each match causes new gems to fall down the board. An already tricky game becomes more challenging when you play the Time Trial mode. A bar at the bottom of the screen counts down, and you must make sets or combos to replenish the time on the bar. If you fill the bar completely, you advance to the next level, where you can earn higher scores although the timer counts down more quickly.

Instructions

    • 1

Plan ahead. As with other game modes, you should think a few moves into the future so that the next move does not leave you without a match on a future play.

    • 2

Scan the screen for combos, or moves, in which you can get multiple sets with one play. You will not only earn more points in Time Trial mode by making combos, but you will also put more time back on the clock.

    • 3

Take extra time to study the board when the bonus bar is near completion. There are three reasons to do this. First, you have plenty of time on the clock so you do not risk the game ending. Secondly, once you fill the meter, the bar will be reset to a lower level with less time. Thirdly, you will get a new board of gems when the bonus bar resets, so try to get the best combos you can before dealing with a new screen.

Tips & Warnings

  • Get in-game hints by clicking the purple "Hint" button on the screen. This will make one of the gems on the screen flash to indicate you can make a set with it and nearby gems. However, you lose several seconds of your time meter when you use the hint feature in the Time Trial mode.
