There is a lot of preparation to transform your little girl into a pageant queen.

Child pageants are a way to boost self-esteem and teach a child to have good public speaking skills. Pageants are one way for your child to meet new friends and to provide opportunities that she might otherwise not have. However, there is a lot of preparation for a beauty pageant. You’ll need to work closely with your daughter weeks before the pageant to achieve the best results.

Instructions

    • 1

Familiarize yourself with the rules and expectations of the pageant. Your child will most likely be participating in a glitz or natural pageant, and each of these has different regulations. Points can be docked for rules that are not followed, and the lack of knowledge could destroy your child’s chances to be crowned the winner.

    • 2

Practice your child’s beauty pageant routine with her daily. Have her rehearse her walk, her smile and her hand motions in a full-length mirror. As the pageant draws close, invite family and friends over to help your child be comfortable when performing in front of a crowd.

    • 3

Fit your child for her pageant outfit a few weeks before the pageant. Her wardrobe may need alterations, which can take some time to finish. Keep the wardrobe, shoes and jewelry together for easy access before the pageant begins.

    • 4

Run through a full makeup and hair routine a couple of days before the pageant. Apply the makeup exactly as you would on the day of the show. Style your child’s hair as she intends to wear it on the stage. By doing this, you’ll be able to tell what works and what doesn’t, giving you time to make adjustments before the competition.

    • 5

Monitor your child closely before the pageant. She will need to get at least eight hours of sleep the night before the pageant. Steer her away from excess sugar and junk food the morning before the show. Serve a healthy breakfast with lots of protein and carbohydrates to keep her energy high during the entire pageant.

Share your enthusiasm with your daughter as you are putting the finishing touches on her hair and makeup. Offer words of encouragement and let her know how proud you are of her, no matter what position she places.
