How to Become Ashura in "Sonic 3 & Knuckles"
Ashura is the term given to any green-colored Sonic in the Sonic the Hedgehog games. In "Sonic 3 and Knuckles," you can obtain an Ashura by utilizing a Pro Action Replay device. Ashura has all the same abilities as Sonic. In fact, Ashura is more of a glitch than anything else and is not mentioned in any of the official Sonic storylines. You can also turn into Ashura by messing around with the debug mode.

Insert the "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" cartridge into the "Sonic and Knuckes" cartridge. Insert the "Sonic and Knuckles" cartridge into the Pro Action Replay. Insert the Pro Action Replay into the Sega Genesis and turn the system on.

Enter the code "00380A:00A6" at the code screen and press "Start."

Begin playing the game normally. After you are hit by Knuckles at the beginning of "Sonic 3 and Knuckles," you will begin turning green. Eventually, the green color will increase, making you Ashura.

Tips & Warnings
Alternatively, enter the debug mode and mess around with the items. There is no exact order for getting Ashura through debug mode, but eventually, Sonic's color will change depending on the items placed in the stage.
