How to De-Wrinkle a Rayon Blouse

How to De-Wrinkle a Rayon Blouse thumbnail
Rayon blouses should be treated very gently.

Rayon blouses are very delicate garments. Because rayon is not a resilient fabric, a rayon blouse cannot be heated, stretched or washed vigorously. This means that you can't iron a rayon blouse with the rest of your clothes, nor can you hang it in a humid bathroom to de-wrinkle it. However, by using a low iron setting and a piece of aluminum foil, you should be able to get wrinkles out of a rayon blouse without damaging the fabric. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Place a large piece of aluminum foil onto your ironing board. If your blouse is large or you have several blouses to iron, coat the entire board with aluminum foil.

    • 2

Lay your blouse out flat on top of the aluminum foil. Plug the iron in and put it on a low steam setting. Check to make sure there is water inside the steam chamber, then let it heat up completely.

    • 3

Hold your iron about a hand's width above the blouse and press the steam button. The aluminum foil will help spread the steam effect out so you do not overheat your rayon.

    • 4

Go over the entire blouse, never actually touching the iron to the fabric. After a few minutes, the steam will cause the wrinkles in the rayon to slowly loosen and disappear.

    • 5

Let your rayon blouse rest when you are done until all the heat has dissipated from it. Once it is completely cool and dry, hang it up or store it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always lay your rayon blouse out to dry on a flat surface as soon as you finish hand washing it so wrinkles don't set in.
