Instructions

    • 1

Connect the KitchenAid Architect range to a grounded three-prong outlet if the entire unit will not operate, or replace or reset the fuse or circuit breaker if the oven power cord is inaccessible.

    • 2

Find the gas valve connected to the range, usually in the rear, if the Architect has power but none of the burners will light and the oven will not heat. Turn the gas valve on to the left (counterclockwise) to open. Stop immediately if the smell of gas is present, turn off the oven and leave the house. Contact the gas company.

    • 3

Select cookware the same approximate size of the heating element if a lot of heat is coming from the cooktop when in use.

    • 4

Release air from the lines before the first use of the cooktop or oven by turning one of the control knobs clockwise. Wait a few seconds and then turn the control knob back to “Off.”

    • 5

Let the burners cool, and then clean the burner caps with warm, soapy water and a soft brush if the burner flames are noisy when in use, yellow in color or uneven in size. Rinse the cap well and dry thoroughly, as a wet burner will not function well. Clean the burner port with a straight pin, moving carefully so as not to damage or enlarge the port.

    • 6

Press “Clear/Off” if the oven will not operate but the Architect range has power in order to cancel any previous programs such as a timed delayed start. Hold the “Start” button for 5 seconds if the oven still does not work and none of the other control pad features function to release the control lock feature.

    • 7

Recalibrate the oven if the cooking temperature is consistently too high or too low. Change the cooking temperature by 25 degrees Fahrenheit and monitor food while cooking first, but proceed with calibration if this is not effective. Touch “Options” and the number “6” to begin calibration, followed by the number “3” to increase the oven temperature or the number “6” to decrease the temperature. The temperature will change in 10-degree increments. Change the temperature 10 degrees for slight temperature adjustments or up to 30 degrees for greater temperature change. Touch “Start” to confirm the calibration.

    • 8

Close the oven door if the convection fan has stopped when the door was opened. Note that the fan turns on and off during convection broiling, and this is normal.

    • 9

Open and shut the oven door firmly if the self-cleaning cycle will not start, and press “Self Clean” to select the function. Push “Self Clean” again until the desired cleaning time appears and then press “Start.”

    • 10

Push “Clock Set” and the number pad for the current time if “Set Clock” is shown on the display. Touch “Clock Set” again to confirm.
