Fleece fabric offers warmth and luxury in the cold months.

Winter winds often cause our ears and necks to tingle with the pain of the cold air. Fleece is an ideal fabric for staying warm and cuddly during the winter months. While this fabric is often utilized for throws and pillows, fleece can also serve as a head scarf to protect ears and necks from the cold winter air. This craft only requires a bit of fleece fabric and a few festive buttons to create this winter project.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay your fabric out on a flat, even surface. Mark out a triangle measuring about 40 inches on each side using a ruler and a fabric marker or chalk.

    • 2

Cut out the triangle using a sharp pair of scissors. Mark out 1-inch slits every 1 inch along two sides of the triangle using a ruler and fabric marker. Cut along each of these marked slits to create a fringe. Remember to only create fringe on two of the three sides.

    • 3

Place the head scarf over your head with the smooth side sitting over your hairline. Pull the smooth side of the triangle around your face and pinch together the smooth edges underneath your chin. Make a mark where the scarf connects under your chin on both sides of the fabric.

    • 4

Thread a needle with some matching thread. Place a decorative button on the place you marked on the previous step on the right side of the fabric. Sew the button into place with about five to 10 stitches. Tie off and cut the excess thread. Cut a 1/4-inch slit on the same smooth side of the head scarf, equidistant from the triangle tip for the button on the opposing side.

    • 5

Place another button about 1 inch closer to the triangle point from the initial button. Sew into place using another five to 10 stitches. Cut a matching slit 1 inch down from the initial slit on the opposite side.

    • 6

Place the scarf over your head with the smooth side sitting over your hairline. Button up the two buttons underneath your chin for snug comfort.
