Throwing a Surprise Bachelorette Party
Unlike other kinds of surprise parties that you host, the bachelorette party is a tradition. This means you and the bride know it's going to happen the moment she shares news of her engagement. That doesn't mean you can't inject an air of secrecy into your management of the event and keep your bachelorette wondering what's in store until the very last moment. The bachelorette's anticipation adds excitement to the weeks leading up to the party while you and the rest of the bridal party take care of all the details.

1
Set the guidelines of the party with the bachelorette before you begin planning. Understand what she's comfortable with and how edgy the festivities can get. Ask her who can and should be invited. Equally important is who should not be invited.
-
2
Determine the time frame of the party. Some parties are a weekend getaway while others are a night out on the town. Pick a format the bachelorette will enjoy the most but also evaluate how others in the bridal party can participate. For example, a weekend in Las Vegas may seem exciting, but if only you and the bachelorette can afford to attend, it may not be worth it.

3
Put together a small team of ladies who are responsible and willing to assist with planning. Write out a list of all the pieces of the event such as decorations, food, music, venue and transportation.
-
4
Pick a date or time frame for the festivities and inform the bachelorette. Tell her the exact times she must make herself available for your surprise. Give her instructions on what to wear or pack but do not provide any details surrounding the requests.
-
5
Book the venue, if necessary. Reserve any flights, rooms, VIP lounges and other location details as far in advance as possible. This will help you get the best rates and the dates you want.
-
6
Send out invitations. Let guests know that the event is a surprise and that no questions or details are to be forwarded to the bachelorette. Give the girls all of the details, costs and the itinerary as they become available. Set a due date for any money you need to collect from the guests. Send updates on a weekly or biweekly basis, depending on how far out the date is.
-
7
Confirm RSVPs one to two months in advance of the party. Make arrangements with the caterers and entertainment at this point. Order enough food, drinks and entertainers to accommodate the confirmed guests.
-
8
Determine how you want to reveal the party and orchestrate an elaborate unveiling around it. The logistics of your event affect when this happens. For example, if you are flying to a destination, the bachelorette will get a clue of what's happening when she arrives at the airport gate.
