How to Make a Knitting Bobbin
Knitting bobbins are “H” shaped piece of plastic or cardboard that are used in multi-strand knitting projects. When knitting intricate design patterns with two or more yarn colors for ski sweaters, hats and socks, you will want to keep the yarn strands separate and untangled. That requires the knitting bobbin, which holds several dozen yards of yarn and keeps everything neat and organized. A corrugated cardboard box can be recycled into a sturdy knitting bobbin.

1
Cut a square of cardboard to measure 4 inches square, using the ruler and scissors.
-
2
Cut a centered 1-inch square into two opposite ends of the cardboard square, using the ruler and scissors, to make an “H” shape.
-
-
3
Cut a 1-inch slit into the center of the top right “H” arm.
-
4
Wind the yarn around the center of the knitting bobbin “H.” Slide the yarn end into the slit to keep the yarn from unraveling when the bobbin is not in use.
