How to Make the Umlaut on a Mac
The umlaut is not as common in English as it is in Germanic languages, but you may still need to display the two tiny dots with your letters occasionally. For example, the common names “Zoë” and “Chloë” both have spellings that use umlauts. If you are on a Mac, you can use a keyboard shortcut command to add umlauts to letters in any application that accepts text input.
