Instructions

    • 1

Draw a pencil line around the room 30 inches from the floor. Draw 6-inch squares, 6 inches apart along the line. Place bottom of the squares along the line. This makes battlements around the room.

    • 2

Paint the squares and the wall below the line light gray.

    • 3

Pour a small amount of medium gray paint into a paper plate and dip a 6-inch square household sponge into it. Paint a few squares randomly around the room to suggest stones in the castle walls.

    • 4

Paint the space above the battlements sky blue and use a natural sea sponge to add white clouds.

    • 5

Cut 6-by-8 rectangles from several colors of felt to make pennants. If desired, cut crests and stripes from felt to decorate the pennants. Sew the short ends of the pennants to a length of ribbon to make a string of banners to hang at the top of the window. You can pin the banner to an existing window treatment or tack it to the molding.

    • 6

Hang wooden swords and shields for wall decor. A stuffed dragon or dragon puppet is a nice touch.

Tips & Warnings

  • Shape the bottom edge of the some of the pennants into a "V" or a curve.
