Though the color typewriter animation has been removed from PowerPoint 2010, you can still recreate the animation effect. The Animation Pane in PowerPoint gives you the ability to fine-tune every detail of your animation effects so that it looks exactly the way you want it to. It takes two, simultaneous animation effects to replicate the color typewriter animation effect. The color typewriter animation was included in versions of PowerPoint previous to 2010.

Instructions

      Open the PowerPoint presentation you want to edit. Select the text to animate and click on the "Animation" tab in the Office ribbon.

      Click "Add Animation" and then choose "Appear." Click on the "Animation Pane" button. Click on the animation you created in the list in the Animation Pane and then click the arrow on the right side. Select "Effect Options."

      Click the "Sound" drop-down menu and select "Typewriter." Click on the "Animate Text" drop-down and choose "By Letter." Click "OK."

      Select the same text again and then click on the "Add Animation" button in the "Animation" tab of the ribbon. Choose "Font Color" from the "Emphasis" section.

      Click to select the Font Color animation in Animation Pane. Open the "Effect Options" for the Font Color animation. Click the "Style" drop-down menu and choose the rainbow option. Click the check-box next to "Auto-Reverse." Click on the "Timing" tab and then click on the "Start" drop-down menu and choose "With Previous." Click "OK."
