How to Make Everything Smaller on XP

The Windows XP operating system gives you the option to change your monitor’s resolution right from the desktop. If you feel that the items in Windows XP are too large, you can increase the screen resolution to make everything seem smaller. However, you can select certain higher resolutions only if your monitor supports them.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the “Start” button and then select “Control Panel.”

    • 2

Pick the “Appearance and Themes” category and then click “Display.”

    • 3

      Select the tab labeled “Settings.”

    • 4

      Drag the slider under “Screen Resolution” to the right. Higher resolutions include “1024 x 768,” “1280 x 1024,” “1680 x 1050” and “1920 x 1080.”

Click “Apply,” then click “OK” on the confirmation box. Your screen will turn black for a moment. Once your screen resolution changes, you have 15 seconds to confirm the change. Click "Yes" to confirm the change; click "No" or do nothing to revert to your previous setting.
