How to Activate the Universe in Ubuntu
Ubuntu’s software repositories are split into four components. Unlike the software available in the Main and Restricted repositories, the software available in the Universe repository isn’t officially supported software. The Universe repository is full of software maintained by the Ubuntu community and represents the universe of open-source software available for Ubuntu. Newer versions of Ubuntu come with the Universe repository activated by default, but older versions don’t. You can activate the Universe repository from the Software Sources window if it’s disabled.
