How to Uninstall a Refrigerator Door
There are several reasons why it may be necessary to uninstall a refrigerator's door, including repairing the door itself or any of its parts, making adjustments or moving it into a difficult room. Shut the refrigerator door completely. Locate the refrigerator door's hinge plate, usually located above the door's top hinge. With the appropriate screwdriver, either a Phillips-head or a flat-head, remove the screws. Normally, there are three or four screws, depending upon make and model. Sometimes there is a small cap concealing the screws. Use a putty knife to pop off the cap. Place the screws in a safe location.

Place a pair of pliers at the top of the hinge pin, located in the center of the hinge. Pull the pin up until it is completely removed. Set the pin in a safe location.

Repeat steps 1 and 2 on the rest of the refrigerator's hinges. Refrigerators have between two and four hinges, depending upon make and model. Ensure all screws, caps and pins are kept in a secure location.

Hold the refrigerator door firmly on each side. Lift the door up to release it from the hinges and gently set it to the side. Lay the refrigerator door down flat to ensure no accidents are caused in case it falls.

Tips & Warnings
For top and bottom model refrigerators, remove the top door first and follow with the bottom door, using the same method as above.
Keep the refrigerator door closed at all times while removing the hinge's cap, screws and pins to avoid it falling when released from the hinge's hold.
Additional assistance may be required to hold the refrigerator door in place when reinstalling the door.
