Get your puppy toys so he has something that is okay for him to chew.

Puppies can be cute and cuddly, but they can also chew just about anything they get their little mouths on. Fortunately, there are ways to cover wires so a puppy will not chew on them.

Instructions

    • 1

Cover excess cords and wires with spiral wraps. A spiral wrap is flexible plastic tubing that is similar to the plastic binders used in some books. Slide the exposed cord into the spiral wrap. Spiral wraps are capable of concealing multiple cords and cables.

    • 2

Cover exposed cords and cables with wire looms. Wire looms are flexible plastic tubes you place over cords and wires, making it more difficult for a dog to chew through to the wires. Wire looms can also cover multiple cables and cords.

    • 3

Use cord clips with adhesive backing to hang the cords. Attach cord clips to entertainment centers, desks and other furniture to hang the cords, keeping them out of a dog’s reach.

    • 4

Wrap cables and cords inside cable turtles with only the ends of the cables sticking out. The use of a cable turtle will minimize the amount of cable a dog can access.

    • 5

Gather wires in bunches and lay them flat. Place zip ties around the cables and zip them tightly together. Lift the cords off the ground and hang them on hooks or clips.

Tips & Warnings

  • Purchase cords and cables in colors that blend with the walls and carpet to make them less noticeable to dogs.

  • Place gates or other pet barriers around the areas where cords are exposed.
