Instructions

    • 1

Wrap one yard of colored yarn around your hand and remove the looped yarn. Gather one end of the yarn and tie one hair elastic around the yarn. Cut the longer remaining loops with scissors to create a small pom-pom. Give each party guest one set of small pom-poms to attach to their shoes or pony tails.

Draw the outline of a megaphone on a large piece of poster board. Cut out the megaphone with scissors. Decorate the cutout with cheer slogans, such as “Beat Those Bears!” or “Go! Fight! Win!” Hang the megaphones on the wall with tape.

    • 3

Cut 6-by-2-inch pieces of colored paper in your school colors. Connect the ends of one length of paper and staple them together to form a link. Pass the next piece of paper through the first link and staple its ends together. Repeat with as many links as you need to create garland to hang around the room.

    • 4

Cut out a long triangular shape from a large piece of felt or poster board to create a team pennant. Decorate the perimeter of the pennant by gluing on ribbon or ric rac trim. Write out the team name in glitter across the pennant. Hang the pennant on the wall.

    • 5

Unroll a long piece of paper and hold down the ends with weighted objects. Sketch out a cheer-inspired slogan, such as “Stomp Those Ravens!” Paint the words with team colors and decorate the remainder of the paper with dots, squiggles or swirly shapes. Hang the banner, or hold it up for a group to run through.
