How to Beat "Splinter Cell"

"Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell" is a third-person video game for the Xbox, with ports for the PC and PlayStation 2. It provides you with a lot of gadgets and weapons to complete a number of missions that take place around the world. "Splinter Cell" puts a lot of emphasis on stealth, so you must use all the resources at your disposal to beat the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the darkness to your advantage. "Splinter Cell" features a lot of shadows and dark areas you can use to avoid enemy patrols, security cameras and turrets. A meter on the lower-right corner of the screen will show how well-hidden you are from the shadows.

    • 2

Interrogate enemies whenever possible. Not only will you find out about passcodes, medical supplies and ammunition, but you will also get to know more about the "Splinter Cell" universe.

    • 3

Observe enemy patrols before advancing through an area. Use your thermal and night-vision goggles to see enemies clearly in the dark. The optical cable in your inventory allows you to check out rooms for enemies prior to entering them. This will also allow you to avoid unpleasant surprises.

    • 4

Use non-lethal techniques in levels that prevent you from killing any enemy soldiers or guards. Sneak behind and use your fists to knock out enemies immediately. If you cannot get close enough to use your fists, try using a ring airfoil round or sticky shocker to instantly knock out enemies from a distance.

    • 5

Avoid detection by security cameras at all costs. If you cannot avoid detection, take them out using your SC Pistol or SC-20K. However, you cannot shoot down armored security cameras, which fortunately are rare in this game.

    • 6

Use grenades and flashbangs when taking out groups of enemies. You can die very quickly if exposed to enemy fire, so use cover whenever possible. If you take any damage, use a med pack from the inventory to replenish your health.

Tips & Warnings

  • Listen to Irving Lambert, your mission director, for important tips and advice.

  • The "quick save" feature in the PC version of "Splinter Cell" allows you to save your game at any time.

  • Search computers for passcodes. Satchels dropped by enemies also contain passcodes and other useful information.

  • Your game manual contains additional information about enemies, weapons and gadgets.
