How to Make a Clay Transformer Figure
Some fans of the Transformers are just simply obsessed with them. For some, collecting these action figures available at the store simply isn't satisfying enough. There are fanatics who must create clay versions of these action figures to call their own. With the latex molds you create to preserve the detail of your Transformer figures, you can also create replicas of these actions figure to paint and display. To the fellow collectors, the end product may be figures that your friends will envy and possibly beg for you to produce for them.
Things You'll Need
- Transformer figure
- Latex mold-making material
- Air dry clay
- Acrylic paint in the appropriate colors
- Assortment of brush sizes

Create the mold halves. Using a brush that you will likely have to discard after using, brush the latex mold material on the front half of the Transformer figure. After the mold cures, remove it and repeat the process for the back side.

Press the air dry clay into each mold half. Be sure to press the clay into every mold detail and level off the top with your finger or tongue depressor.

Assemble the mold halves. With the air dry clay still pliable, wet the mating faces of each half and then score each with a fingernail or toothpick to provide a rough surface. Press the mating surfaces together and release the mold halves when the clay has dried.

Paint the clay Transformer figure, with the original Transformer figure as a reference. Apply the acrylic paint with the appropriate size of paint brush. With the larger and wider brushes, paint the base color and use the fine tip brushes to apply the smaller details. Rinse the brushes with water after use.
