How to Open a GMOD Server
Garry's Mod, also called "GMOD," is a sandbox game with no predefined goals or story that allows players to experiment with objects in a physics-based environment. The game mechanics and tools allow for an open-ended playing experience where you can import character models from popular Valve Software games, build structures, make comics, create a race track and blow things up with grenades. You can also play Garry's Mod online by creating a multiplayer server. This allows you to brainstorm and work on large projects with your friends.

Launch the "Steam" game platform by double-clicking the "Steam" icon on your desktop, or by clicking the "Start" menu, then "All Programs" and "Steam."

Click the "Library" tab at the top of the Steam window. Click "Garry's Mod" in the games list on the left.

Click "Play."

Click "Start New Game" in the main menu.

Click to select a level on which to play the game.

Click "Start Multiplayer" to create a GMOD server. Steam friends can join your server by clicking the "Community" tab in the Steam window, then clicking "Friends" and "Join" next to your username.

Tips & Warnings
To join an existing server, click "Play Multiplayer" in the main menu. Click to select a server name in the "Servers" window, then click "Connect" to join the server.
