A wool sweater is a classic piece in any wardrobe. They are warm and often handcrafted. But sometimes, there comes a day when the favorite wool sweater is accidently tossed into the dryer, set on high heat and shrunk to a size no one in the house could wear. There are many craft projects that have evolved from the shrunken wool sweater. Small accent pillows and door draft stoppers are two that are completed with any level of crafting expertise.

Instructions

  1. Pillow and Door Draft-Stopper

      Cut the sweater across from armpit to armpit. Set aside the piece with the arms still attached.

      Turn the sweater inside-out. Sew together the front and back along the edge that was just cut. Sew together the bottom of the sweater leaving a 1-inchto 2-inch opening.

      Turn the sweater right-side out. Push enough batting through the hole to fill the sweater, turning iy into a pillow. Stitch up the small hole.

      Cut the arms off the body section of the sweater. Stitch them together to create one long tube. Sew closed one end of the tube. Fill the tube with a mixture of feed corn, dry rice and sand. Sew the end of the tube. This works to stop drafts under doors or as a wrist support while typing.
