How to Display a Halloween Costume on a Door
Put your kid’s old Halloween costumes to good use by displaying them on the doors in your home. Old costumes purchased from yard sales or thrift stores can be used as an inexpensive decoration that will greet trick-or-treaters when they approach your front door. Halloween costumes that can be used include vampires, ghosts, scarecrows, pumpkins, maids, princesses or cartoon characters. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Halloween costume
- Fishing line
- Double-sided tape
- Tissue paper
- Rubber bands
- Ribbon
- Leaves
- Halloween-themed decorations

Fill the legs, the body and the arms of the Halloween costume with tissue paper. Use rubber bands to close off the end of the legs and arms.

Tie some fishing line to the top and bottom of body of the costume. Run the fishing line over the top and under the bottom of the door, tying together in the back.

Tie the fishing line to the sides of the costume and the waist of bottoms. Wrap a line around the door tying together in the back. Tie some fishing line to the top of the bottoms and run over the top of the door to support the weight.

Attach double-sided tape to the back of the costume and adhere to the door. This will keep the costume from moving side by side when the door opens and closes.

Add ribbon, leaves and other Halloween-themed decorations, such as spiders and webs, to the door using double-sided tape.

Save some money and use old newspapers instead of tissue paper to stuff the costume.
