How to Make a Salt Shaker From a Beer Bottle
Many restaurants reuse old beer bottles as salt shakers. These shakers are not only practical, but they also provide a sense of whimsy and fun. You can make your own beer bottle salt shaker using a special cap that is designed to fit onto all standard bottles. They are available in some larger liquor stores, and can also be ordered online. Once you have the cap, you just have to empty and sterilize your bottle and add the salt.

1
Open and empty a beer bottle. Use one made of clear glass for maximum visibility.
-
2
Wash the beer bottle in a dishwasher at the hottest possible setting. This will sterilize the bottle. Allow it to dry.

3
Place a small funnel in the mouth of the bottle.
-
4
Fill the bottle with table salt. You can also use sea salt so long as the crystals fit through the cap's perforations.
-
5
Drop a few grains of white rice into the bottle to absorb excess moisture.
-
6
Snap the salt shaker cap tightly onto the mouth of the bottle.
