How to Make a Skeleton Head

Making your own Halloween decorations can be a festive project for the holidays. Instead of buying decorations, think about the ways you can repurpose items you already have into cool, funky decor for your home. Save empty milk jugs and make a lot of skeleton heads and string them up to make a spooky garland, or make one to sit on the table as a gruesome centerpiece.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash and dry an empty milk jug. To make crafting a skeleton head simpler, choose a jug that has a circle on either side of the jug, which will form the skeleton's eyes.

    • 2

Flip the milk jug over and grab some black acrylic paints and a paintbrush. Color in the circles already on the milk jug with the paint to create two large skeleton eyes.

    • 3

Paint on two nostrils and a wide skeleton mouth with the paintbrush and black paint.

    • 4

Draw on details with a black permanent marker, like lines on the mouth or embellishments on the skeleton's eyes. Allow the skull head to dry.

    • 5

Cut a couple of slits into the bottom of the jug (the top of the skeleton's head) and pull a length of fishing line through it if you want a hanging skeleton. If you want to set it on a table to display it, you may need some tape to help anchor it down.
