How to Make Colorful Candy Necklaces
When planning a birthday party for your child, you can make your own candy necklace favors instead of buying them. Use soft, colorful candies, such as gumdrops, to create sweet, edible necklaces. If you don't have time to create the favors before the birthday bash, have the guests make their own goodies to take home after the party. Provide a mix of gumdrop flavors, such as cherry, grape and orange, so that party-goers can customize the edible jewelry to their tastes.
Instructions

1
Snip off a 12-inch length of unflavored, waxed dental floss. Use a longer or shorter piece of floss depending on how long you want the candy necklace to be.
-
2
Slip one end of the floss through the eye of a sewing needle and make a tight knot to secure.
-
-
3
Push a soft, colorful candy, such as a gumdrop, onto the needle. Slide the candy across to the other side of the floss, allowing two inches at the end.
-
4
Continue threading gumdrops onto the needle and across the floss. Fill the entire length of floss with candy, allowing two inches at the end with the needle. Use other soft candies, such as licorice bites and gummy bears, along with the gumdrops for a varied look. Alternate each type of candy as you make the necklace.
-
5
Cut the needle off with scissors. Knot the two ends of floss together to form the necklace.
