How to Get a Title for a Used ATV
Each state has different laws regarding the operation and registration of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). A certificate of title for an automobile or ATV is the legal ownership document. It states the owner's name and information about the vehicle such as a vehicle identification number (VIN), model, license plate number and information describing the vehicle such as the weight and purchase price. If buying a used ATV, the previous owner will often not have a title, especially if it is an older model.
