How to Make a Toadstool Pillow
The purpose of a pillow is to provide comfort to its user. The two factors determining how comfortable a pillow is are its design and materials. A toadstool is a suitable design for a pillow, as its cap provides a large and smooth surface for the head. Felt is a good material for the project because it is both soft enough to provide comfort and sturdy enough to last a long time.

- 1 sq ft red felt sheet
- 1 sq ft white felt sheet
- 1 sq ft brown felt sheet
- Scissors
- Compass
- Sewing needle and thread
- Sewing machine
- Cotton balls
- Wooden skewer

Draw an equilateral triangle on a 1-by-1 foot sheet of red felt. The triangle must be as large as the sheet allows. Cut out the felt triangle and trim the corners with a pair of scissors to round them.

Place the rounded triangle on another 1-by-1 foot sheet of red felt. Trace around the rounded triangle to create an identical shape on the felt sheet. Cut out the new triangle.

Draw 2-inch diameter circles on a sheet of white felt. Cut out the circles with a pair of scissors. Use running stitch to sew the white circles on the surface of the two red rounder triangles.

Draw a 4-by-4 inch square on a 1-by-1 foot sheet of brown felt. Cut out the square and trim its corners to round them. Place the square on another sheet of brown felt. Trace around it and cut out a new, identical rounded square.

Machine stitch one side of a rounded square and one side of a triangle together to connect the toadstool's cap with its stem. Repeat the task with the second square and triangle.

Machine stitch the edges of the two toadstool shapes together. The sides containing the white circles must face outward. Leave a 3-inch section unsewn on one side of the triangular cap.

Stuff the pillow with cotton balls through the 3-inch unsewn section. Use a wooden skewer to gently push the cotton inside the pillow and distribute the stuffing evenly.

Hand sew the 3-inch part to complete the toadstool pillow. Check the pillow for stitching flaws before using it.
