How to: Breezy Side-Swept Knot in the Hair

• Hair gel or mousse
• Elastic hairband
• Bobby pins
• Hair spray

Instructions

1. Finger-comb your hair lightly. Apply a small amount of gel or mousse to your hair, working it through from your roots to the tips. The gel or mousse will provide extra texture and styling hold.

2. Pull your hair into a side ponytail using your fingers to comb your hair. By finger-combing instead of brushing or combing, you will create a messier and more casual style. Leave some hair loose from the ponytail to frame your face. Position the ponytail at the side above and slightly behind one ear and fasten the elastic band tightly around the ponytail to secure it.

3. Tie the ponytail into a knot around the base of the ponytail. Pull the end of the ponytail to tighten the knot and twist the remaining hair around the outside edge of the knot.

4. Insert bobby pins around the outside of the knot to secure it. Space each bobby pin about 2 inches apart to pin the knot tightly.
