How to Become a LEED-Certified Building Contractor
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, is an internationally-recognized green building certification system. Building and construction designs are more commonly submitted for LEED certification. However, individuals with expertise and experience in green building construction can also apply for what are termed "credentials," which are essentially certifications for individuals. Building contractors participating in the design and construction phases of high-performance, healthful, durable, affordable and environmentally sound commercial, institutional and high-rise residential buildings can apply for the "LEED AP Building Design & Construction" credentials.
