How to Maintain Hard Spiky Hair
You may see people with spiky hairstyles and wonder how they can retain their hold in spite of weather, humidity and wind. By using specific kinds of hair products, you can style your hair and ensure that it retains its spike. These products typically introduce some moisture into your hair, along with some other chemical compounds. When dried, these compounds will harden and make your hair less susceptible to falling down. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Get a haircut from a stylist who is capable of creating texture in the fringe, where your hair meets your forehead, and at the crown, which is the top portion of your hair. These two portions should be cut slightly longer than the sides and back of your haircut. This is the first step to maintaining a hard spiky hairstyle in the long term.

2
Wash your hair and dry it until it's approximately 50 percent dry and slightly damp. Do this whenever you shower and want to follow it up with applying this hairstyle. If the hair is too dry, then your hair products will not harden as much as they should.

3
Remove a dollop of strong-hold hair gel and work it through your hands. Run your hands through your hair, working the gel through it.
-
4
Style your hair into spikes by grasping portions of it and pulling them together and out, away from your head. Continue to create the spikes in large or small sizes until you've achieved the desired look.

5
Blow-dry your hair using the dryer's lowest fan and temperature settings. If the blow dryer has an option to blow cool, unheated air, use that instead. Hold the blow dryer about eight inches away from your head and work around until the gelled spikes begin to harden and hold their shape on their own.

6
Make regular appointments with your stylist every few weeks so that she can cut your hair to maintain the proper shape for a hard spiky hairstyle.
