How to Avoid Oily Eye Shadow Lines

Use powdered eye shadow instead of cream eye shadow to avoid creases.

Eye shadow is a staple in almost every woman’s makeup arsenal—eye shadow gives your eyes more depth and makes your eye color pop. However, as the day wears on, it is not uncommon for eye shadow to develop creases. These creases happen when your eyes are open and the eye shadow is creased in the folds of skin. To prevent creases from happening, use a primer on the surface of the eye. Primers help prevent the skin from getting oily and make a matte surface on the eyelid so you can apply your eye shadow on a clean canvas. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wash and dry your face. Apply a non-greasy facial moisturizer to the skin. This will give you a nice, clean surface on which to apply your primer and eye shadow.

    • 2

Apply a small drop of liquid primer on the palm of your hand. Dab the tips of your fingers in the primer.

    • 3

Rub the primer all over your eyelids and any other areas that tend to get more oily, such as your forehead, chin and the bridge of your nose.

    • 4

Apply the eye shadow on top of your primed eyes. Use a powder eye shadow because it is much less likely to crease and is longer lasting than most cream eye shadows.
