How to Make a Flower Crochet Headband for a Newborn
Embellished newborn headbands come in a very wide variety of colors, sizes and styles, and can be purchased premade in boutiques and online. Even though the headbands may look fancy, the truth is that you can save yourself a lot of money by creating your own headband using a few simple craft supplies. Even without extensive sewing experience, you can create your own customized flower applique and attach it to a crocheted headband for a truly adorable finished product.

1
Draw the outline of a flower design on a piece of brightly colored felt using a fabric marker. The shape should be two to four inches wide, depending on how large you'd like the flower embellishment on the final headband to be.
-
2
Draw a similar version of the same flower design on a different, contrasting color of felt, except make this one about an inch smaller than the last. Cut both flower shapes out using a pair of scissors.

3
Center the smaller flower felt piece over the larger one and secure with sewing pins.
-
4
Sew the edge of the smaller flower all the way around to attach it to the large version using a needle and thread or loaded sewing machine.
-
5
Apply a dollop of fabric glue in the center of the flower and stick a large craft jewel over it. Allow to dry.
-
6
Attach the flower embellishment to a plain crocheted newborn headband using sewing pins.
-
7
Stitch the decorated flower piece to the headband, in a circle that closely surrounds the craft jewel, using a needle and thread or loaded sewing machine. Knot the thread and cut the needle away with a pair of scissors.
