How to Make Green Zombie Make-Up
Homemade Halloween makeup doesn't have to cost a lot; you can make it at home. Although homemade makeup is not quite as clean to apply as the store-bought variety, it contains no non-edible materials or toxic ingredients. It becomes even more inexpensive when you make it in large batches to make up a whole of crew of zombies.
Things You'll Need
- Green food coloring
- Red food coloring
- Cornstarch
- Solid shortening
- Glycerin
- Mixing bowl
- Mixing spoon

1
Combine 2 parts cornstarch to 1 part shortening in a bowl and mix them thoroughly until evenly mixed into a creamy paste. Your quantities can be of any size you like as long as you keep to the 2 to 1 ratio.
-
2
Add 1/4 part glycerin to the mixture to make it creamier and softer. If this isn't enough, add more as needed until you're happy with the consistency.

3
Add a few drops of green food coloring and stir it into your white base mixture of cornstarch, shortening and glycerin. Add the food coloring a few drops at a time until you achieve the color you want.
-
4
Add a much smaller amount of red food coloring if the green food coloring alone leads to an overly bright green shade of makeup. This will make it duller and more zombielike.
-
5
Apply the makeup to the face or body with a sponge or small cotton face cloth. In order to make the applied makeup less sticky on your skin, just pat some talcum powder over the places you've smeared it on. Refrigerate any extra makeup to make it last if needed.
