How to Match Lipstick to Lipliner
After applying makeup to your face and eyes, focus on your lips. When adding color to the lips, use a lipstick with a lip liner, which is an important aspect to a finished lip. The liner helps keep lipstick from bleeding by creating a barrier. For a polished and put-together look, match the lip liner as close to the lipstick as possible. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Look for a lipstick and lip liner from the same cosmetics company. The cosmetics companies come out with similar color profiles in their lipsticks as well as liners.
-
2
Draw tester samples of the lip liner and the lipstick on the back of your hand. This will help you determine how close of a match the makeup will be on your lips.

3
Look at each lip liner and lipstick together. You want the shade to be exactly the same. If it's not the same, you want the lip liner to be only one shade darker than the lipstick. Don't use lip liner that is lighter than the lipstick.

4
Rub the lip liner with your finger to see how well it holds up. Be aware of smudging or flaking of the liner. If the liner smudges or flakes, look for a new liner.
