How to Do the Makeup for Winter & Autumn Tones

The right eye makeup will make your eyes stand out.

Makeup stylists divide people into four "seasonal" groups based on their skin undertones, eye color and natural hair color. Winter tones have pink or blue skin undertones, and often have dark-colored eyes and hair. Autumn tones have gold or yellow skin undertones, and can have red or dark hair. You can look your best by choosing makeup that complements your natural coloring and contrasts with your eyes and hair. People with winter tones look best in bold, vibrant colors, and people with autumn tones look best in earthy colors.

Things You'll Need

• Blush
• Makeup brush
• Lipstick
• Eyeliner
• Water
• Dark- colored eyeshadow
• Light-colored eyeshadow
• Eyeshadow brush
• Mascara

Winter

1. Choose a red or pink blush that is slightly darker than the natural color of your cheeks. Apply it to your cheekbones with the makeup brush. Put on lipstick that matches your blush.

2. Line your eyes with dark purple or gray eyeliner for a soft daytime look. Dip the eyeliner in water to create a dark, dramatic look. Apply the eyeliner above your natural lash line on your upper eyelids.

3. Put dark purple, gray or blue eyeshadow on your upper eyelids with the eyeshadow brush. Wear white or silver eyeshadow under your eyebrows. Apply black mascara to your eyelashes.

Autumn

1. Select a coral, brown or deep orange blush. Apply it to your cheekbones with the makeup brush until your cheeks appear slightly darker. Put on a matching shade of lipstick.

2. Wear green or brown eyeliner during the day. Wear a darker brown eyeliner at night or wet the eyeliner to create a more defined line. Put eyeliner on your upper eyelids during the day. Add eyeliner to your lower eyelids at night to create a more dramatic makeup look.

3. Apply olive, tan or dark brown eyeshadow to your upper eyelids with the eyeshadow brush. Brush light tan or white eyeshadow underneath your eyebrows. Apply dark brown mascara for a subtle daytime look. Wear black mascara if you want to create an intense makeup look.

• Avoid wearing yellow or orange makeup if you have pink or blue skin undertones.

• Avoid matching your eyeshadow to your eye color.
