Keep an accurate count when crocheting motifs for a project.

The hexagon motif has the appearance of a more-challenging crochet pattern to use in afghans, pillows and garments. The pattern is made in several ways. The cluster stitch is the dominant factor in creating some of the more intricate hexagon shapes. Several stitches are grouped or clustered together and joined with one stitch at the top. The bottom of the cluster is wider and has a puffy look to it. The stitches may be done in double, triple, half-double stitches just to name a few. The stitch is often referred to as CL or (cl) in a pattern.
