How to Make a Cabochon Ring
Make your own trendy cabochon ring with a flat-backed stone or glass cabochon and a ring blank. The cabochon can be in the classical domed form or it can be a chunky, stylized plastic cabochon, such as brightly colored resin flowers or polymer clay hearts. Cabochon rings do not have to be fancy, all you need is a bit of epoxy glue, a file and a ring blank to make one.
Things You'll Need
- Cabochon
- Jeweler's file
- Paper towel
- Blank ring base

1
File the bottom of the cabochon to make the surface even -- this will ensure it will sit flat on the surface of the ring base. Wipe down the filed surface with a paper towel to remove sanded dust particles.
-
2
Place a small dab of jeweler's epoxy glue in the center of the platform, or flat surface, located at the top of the ring base with a toothpick.

3
Place the cabochon, flat side up, on your workspace. Hold the ring base over the cabochon, center the platform of the base over the back of the cabochon, then press it down onto it. Hold for 10 seconds to allow the glue to stick to the cabochon before lifting it up.

Let the ring sit for four hours to allow the jeweler's epoxy to cure and harden before you wear it.
