Instructions

    • 1

Remove the water from the bathtub. If the water does not drain, remove it using a cup or bowl.

    • 2

Remove the cover, sometimes called a grill, of the tub drain.

    • 3

Remove any visible hair. It is a good idea to wear rubber gloves when doing this to avoid coming into contact with bacteria.

    • 4

Feed a plumbing snake head, sometimes called an auger, into the drain.

    • 5

Rotate the head of the snake clockwise until you can feel it push up against the blockage.

    • 6

Remove the snake from the drain. Re-insert the snake and repeat if necessary.

    • 7

Run the water in the tub to remove any remaining debris.
