How to Match Eyebrow Pencils
When matching an eyebrow pencil, refer to the color of your eyebrows and your hair. Choosing the wrong color can produce the opposite effect of what you want. For example, a pencil that is much darker than your natural color will result in brows that look heavy. Visit a cosmetics store that offers multiple brands of makeup. This allows you to test several different brands and colors in one location.

Select a group of several pencils. Eyebrow pencil names are based on hair color; select pencils with shade names closest to your own hair color. For example, if your hair is naturally blonde and not colored, select brow pencils that include "blonde" in the name. If your hair is naturally brown, but you consistently color it red, look for pencils that include red tones, or that use the word "auburn." If your hair is brown, select colors that contain "brown" and "brunette."
