Homemade Christmas Gifts: How to Make a Wire Wrapped Beaded Spoon
Decorative beaded spoons look much more difficult to make than they actually are. Impress your holiday or other special occasion dinner guests by setting the table with wire-wrapped beaded spoons. Enhance a large spoon with beads and use it to serve pudding, ice cream or other desserts. You can customize the look of the spoon by using different colored beads, such as red and green for Christmas or orange and black for Halloween. Handmade beaded spoons also make ideal housewarming and bridal shower gifts.

1
Use wire cutters to snip at least yard of 20-gauge silver or gold craft wire to wrap a regular spoon; you may need more wire if you're wrapping a serving spoon. Wrap the wire twice around the bottom of the spoon handle to secure it into place.
-
2
Begin sliding beads onto the wire. Use a mix of seed, 3mm and 4mm glass beads for a varied look. Choose bead colors depending on your home decor scheme or a special occasion theme, or pick a rainbow of bead hues for a vibrant look.

3
Slide between three to five beads across the top of the spoon handle, depending on the width. Wrap the wire around the back of the handle and bring it to the front again to continue sliding beads on.
-
4
Keep wrapping the wire and adding beads up the the entire handle. Stop wrapping at 1/4 inch below the spoon.
-
5
Secure the end of the wire by sliding it under the last wrap on the back of the handle.
