How to Decoupage Glassware
Memorialize a favorite image by decoupaging it onto a plate or bowl. When you decoupage onto glass, you apply the image to the underside of the piece so it shows through the front. For this reason, decoupage works best on clear glass plates, ash trays or serving platters. The same decoupage medium you use for wood or other surfaces will work on glass as well. Applying a coat of clear acrylic sealer prevents the paper from peeling off when washed.

1
Wash and dry the glass before decoupaging. After drying, turn the glassware face-down.
-
2
Cut out the paper you wish to decoupage.
-
-
3
Apply a coat of decoupage medium to the front of the paper shape and press the paper face-down onto the glass. Repeat for every piece of paper you cut.
-
4
Paint over the entire back of the glassware with a coat of decoupage medium after you have applied all the paper. Allow it to dry, then apply two more coats, letting each coat dry before applying the next.
-
5
Spray on two coats of clear acrylic sealer over the dried decoupage, allowing the first coat to dry before spraying on the second.
