How to Extract GIMP to Facebook
You can extract a JPG image from the files that you create in GIMP and then upload the image to Facebook. The default file format created in GIMP is “XCF,” which is not compatible with many programs and photo upload sites. Fortunately, GIMP includes a utility that gives you the option of saving your image creation in the JPG file format. JPGs are compatible with nearly all third-party applications and websites.

Tips & Warnings
One benefit of GIMP's XCF file format is the ability to incorporate layers into your images. Saving the file as a JPG file will "flatten" the image and remove any layer information. If you might want to edit any of the image's layers in the future, be sure to save a copy of the image in the XCF file format before converting it to a JPG.
