How to Make a Synthetic Lace Front Wig Last Longer
Lace front wigs are used by women for two main reasons: either to add length to their hair as they’re growing it out or to create natural-looking hair if they’ve lost their natural hair due to medical reasons. Synthetic wigs provide a type of hair extension, giving the impression of hair that is growing directly from the scalp. There is lace material at the part of the extension that is attached to the scalp. While a good quality lace front synthetic wig can last up to two years, its life span can be extended with proper care and maintenance. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Shampoo the wig regularly with a high-quality shampoo, wig shampoo or liquid laundry detergent. Synthetic lace front wigs should be washed every 10 wears, or if worn daily, every two weeks. Set the wig in a sink full of cold water that has a tablespoon of shampoo mixed in for five minutes, then rinse the wig out thoroughly.

2
Dry the wig naturally instead of using a blow dryer. The wig will dry thoroughly and evenly if hung or draped over something.

3
Brush the wig using a wide-toothed comb. This will help preserve the wig by eliminating knots and other areas of breakage. Straight-haired wigs can withstand brushing with a regular brush instead of a comb.

4
Limit the amount of styling on the wig. Most synthetic lace front wigs are heat-resistant, meaning that they can withstand flat irons and curling irons. However, just as with normal hair, over-styling and heat exposure can damage wig hair, so it’s best to set the heat on the lowest setting and heat-style as infrequently as possible.

Tips & Warnings
Women who feel that they want to constantly switch up the texture of their wig should consider purchasing two wigs of different textures, so as not to expose either wig to rigorous heat styling. Also, wigs can be set in regular, non-heat rollers when wet as an alternative to curling with a hot iron.
It’s natural to lose a few hairs from the wig while shampooing, which is why it’s advisable to wash minimally. If wigs begin to smell in between washes, a fabric refresher spray can be used on the wig. Allow the wig to dry entirely before wear.
Check with the company that sells the wigs to ensure that they are heat-resistant.
