Instructions

  1. Red Lip Gloss

    • 1

Heat a few blocks or pellets of beeswax in a pot. Remove the pot from the stove when the beeswax has melted.

    • 2

Measure out one-quarter cup of the melted beeswax. Add one-quarter cup of castor oil and 2 tablespoons of sesame oil to the melted beeswax.

    • 3

Add at least 2 tablespoons of beet juice to the beeswax and oil mixture. Add more beet juice according to how much coloring you want in your lip gloss.

    • 4

Stir the mixture well until you have a smooth consistency.

    • 5

Pour the mix into lip gloss containers. Let it set before applying it to your lips.

    • 6

Store the lip gloss in the refrigerator.

    Flavored Lip Balm

    • 7

Melt a block or pellet of beeswax in a pot to make 2 teaspoons of beeswax.

    • 8

Add 1 teaspoon of either sweet almond or jojoba oil and 1 1/2 teaspoons of cocoa butter to the melted beeswax.

    • 9

Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.

    • 10

Add four to six drops of any flavored oil, such peppermint, lemon or coconut oil, to the mix.

    • 11

Pierce a vitamin E capsule with a pin. Squeeze its contents into the mixture.

    • 12

Stir well to form a smooth consistency and pour the mix into lip balm containers. Let it set before using it.

    Rose-Infused Night Cream

    • 13

Crush a handful of fresh rose petals, using a pestle and mortar. Place the crushed petals inside a jar.

    • 14

Pour 50 milliliters of sweet almond oil over the crushed rose petals. Seal the jar and leave it in a spot where it can absorb sunlight daily.

    • 15

Leave the sealed jar under daily sunlight for three weeks before straining out the oil from the rose petals.

    • 16

Mix the strained oil with 5 grams of grated beeswax and heat it until the beeswax has melted.

    • 17

Remove the liquid mix from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Stir in 1 teaspoon of wheat germ oil and 15 drops of rose essential oil.

    • 18

Stir the solution until you have a smooth mix.

    • 19

Pour the mix into small lip balm containers. Let it form into a creamy substance before using it. This moisturizer may be stored outside because the wheat germ acts a natural preservative.

    Body Deodorant

    • 20

Melt 8 ounces of beeswax over a low heat. Stir in 8 tablespoons of cornstarch along with 4 tablespoons each of baking soda, vodka and distilled water.

    • 21

Mix well until you form a smooth substance. Add 2 tablespoons of chlorophyll and 10 to 15 drops of any essential oil to the mixture.

    • 22

Pour the liquid into any mold. Let it solidify before using it as deodorant. Store it in an airtight container after use.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use crushed red rose petal powder with coconut oil as an alternative to beet juice for your red lip gloss.

  • Add a few drops of frankincense essential oil to your night cream moisturizer. The oil is used for its supposed enhanced anti-aging effects.

  • Be sure to sterilize all containers with rubbing alcohol before reusing them for your homemade cosmetics.
