1
Work with unwashed hair. The hair's own oils accumulate over one to two days and increase the strands' ability to hold a shape.
-
2
Apply the recommended amount of mousse or styling cream to her freshly washed hair before you dry and curl it. The product encourages hair to hold a set shape more effectively than untreated hair. Select a lightweight product formulated specifically to set curls or texture.

3
Shape wet hair into curls, and allow the hair to dry in the looped shape. Curl her hair with bobby pin curls or rollers overnight if possible. Mist a section of dry hair lightly with water one time before curling it with heated rollers or a curling iron.

4
Invest in high-end heated hair tools to form the curls. Though professional-grade curling irons have a sizable price tag, they are worth the investment if you curl your daughter's hair often.
-
5
Pin a curl against your daughter's head after you release it from a heated roller or the barrel of a curling iron. Allow the curl to cool in the desired shape. Pin the curled section up with a bobby pin. Remove the pins from the hair once it is all curled and cooled back to room temperature.

6
Apply the recommended amount of curl-enhancing styling cream. Lightweight styling products for dry and finished curls contain a small amount of wax to help the curl keep its shape.
-
7
Mist the finished style with light hairspray.
