How to Clean Birch Cabinets

Save

Kitchen cabinets are made of a number of woods, including oak, cherry, maple and birch. Nonporous and resistant to deterioration, birch is also the least expensive of the high-quality woods. A hardwood with a fine texture and low odor, birch requires proper care to keep it looking its best. Keep the right products on hand to clean your birch cabinets to ensure the wood remains free of harsh chemicals and abrasives that may mar its appearance.

Things You'll Need

  • Soft, lint-free cloths
  • Spray bottle
  • Dish soap
  • Dust your birch cabinets daily or weekly with a soft, lint-free cloth or feather duster. Regular dusting helps reduce the buildup of dirt and debris.

  • Wipe the cabinets with a damp cloth when heavier cleaning is necessary. Buff the cabinets dry with a second cloth after wiping them down.

  • Fill a spray bottle with warm water and a few drops of dish soap. Spray the birch cabinets with the soapy solution and use a clean cloth to scrub away hard-to-remove stains and spills. Rinse the cabinets with a cloth dampened with water. Buff dry after cleaning.
