How to Make Orchestral Music on Fruity Loops

Conduct a virtual orchestra using FL Studio.

Digital synthesis technology allows computer software to recreate nearly any sound you can imagine, including the sound of a symphony orchestra. The Fruity Loops Studio digital audio workstation includes the Sytrus synthesizer, which uses six oscillators, or sound generators, to create virtual instruments. If you want to incorporate orchestral sounds into your music productions, load one of Sytrus' orchestral instruments, then program the virtual orchestra using the MIDI piano roll editor.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Fruity Loops Studio. Click "Channels," select "Add One" and click "Sytrus." FL Studio adds the Sytrus instrument to the session.

    • 2

Click the down arrow icon in the upper left corner of the Sytrus window. Hover the mouse over "Presets" to open the list of Sytrus sounds.

    • 3

Click on a preset in the Orchestral section of the the Sytrus preset list. The "Orchestral 1" present has a deeper, more muted sound. "Orchestral 2" has a brighter, clearer tone. Select "Octaver Orchestra" for a fuller, richer orchestral sound.

    • 4

Click the down-arrow icon in the Sytrus window again. Click "Piano Roll" to open the MIDI note editor.

    • 5

Click and drag on top of a note field in the Piano Roll window to enter the notes that you want the orchestra to play. Orchestral music usually contains chords: to play a G major chord, for example, enter MIDI notes into the G, B and D note fields.

    • 6

Click the "Play" button or press the space bar to listen to the orchestral music.
